Shinsaibashi Capsule Hotel
Occassionally, if I stay late in Osaka for an evening of music (Osaka is Japan’s 2nd largest city and only a 45 minute train ride away, but the trains stop running around 11:30 ), or if I am in Tokyo and don’t want to inconvenience friends, I will stay at a capsule hotel. Cheap, surprisingly comfortable, and quiet, they let me be pretty independent away from home. This one in the Shinsaibashi neighborhood of Osaka was especially great, with a comfortable public bath that had a panoramic view of downtown Osaka from big one way picture windows.
